Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What kind of paintings do you sell?

We exclusively sell individually selected, decorative oil paintings! Each painting is an original, hand-painted oil painting, meaning oil paint on canvas, no prints, no giclées!

 2. Are these local artists? Who paints these?

Our owners travel internationally on buying trips 2-3 times a year and individually select every painting you find in our store! Quality is the most important thing to us when selecting our artwork so we exclusively buy from established international artists. Some artists choose to initial or signature their paintings, some do not.

3. This painting has a signature/initials in the corner, what does that mean?

The artists we work with understand our goal is to sell as decorative art! Most of them choose not to sign or initial their artwork, because we do occasionally alter our paintings if our customer so desires. Occasionally you will find some that chose to sign or initial anyway! If you select a piece with a signature or initials, consider it an added bonus!

4. Will direct sunlight fade the painting?

Yes. Like anything, direct sunlight will fade your painting over time. A high concentration of direct artificial light will have the same effect as sunlight. Try flood lighting or low frequency spot light bulb.

5. Can I hang in a bathroom? Will the humidity affect the painting?

Yes, you can hang an oil painting in a bathroom. High levels of humidity can cause the wood & canvas elements of a painting to expand and contract, possibly leading cracking and chipping of the paint. But this would have to be extreme levels of moisture. It’s always a good idea to remember to run the vent fan when showering to remove excess humidity.

6. Can I hang an oil painting outside?

Yes and no. You can hang oil paintings outside under porches or covered patios, as long as the painting is not in direct sunlight. Exposure to direct sunlight will fade the painting over time. Another thing to consider if hanging outside is that frequent changes in temperature, even from day to night can cause your painting to crack. So if you do choose to hang outside, keep an eye on your weather conditions and know that while it is a possibility to hang outside, you will most likely be reducing the life span of your painting.

7. I need a really big painting, but I can’t fit it in my car…

Not to worry! We will deliver your painting(s) to you for trial or for purchase.  There is a delivery fee calculated depending on where you live, which vehicle the painting size requires us to use and labor needed. Give us a call and we can talk about this with you!

8. I am an artist, will you buy my artwork?

Owners Ed & Susan only buy independently from established international artists.

9. I found this old painting in my grandmas attic, can you tell me what it’s worth?

We do get this question a lot! But unfortunately we do not offer appraisals for artwork. We recommend doing an “old-fashioned” Google search!

10. I have a painting I purchased from you and accidentally dented/ripped the canvas. Is my painting ruined?

No way! Bring in your Art Outlet painting for us to assess the problem. Most likely, unless the damage is really bad, we should be able to stretch out any dents or dimples and repair small tears in the canvas. The charge for repair will be given at the time the damaged is assessed.

11. I bought a painting somewhere else and I need it stretched, can you do that?

Absolutely! We provide stretching services for standard or custom size paintings. See here for sizes & prices!

12. I have a painting already stretched that I need a frame for. Can you frame it for me?

Of course! We have dozens of styles of frames to choose from. You can bring your painting in with you & our staff can help you select a frame to compliment your artwork. Our frame sizes are as follows: 8x10, 11x14, 12x16, 12x36, 16x20, 20x24, 24x36, 24x48, 30x30, 30x40, 36x36, 36x48, and 48x72.
